DUTYWIRE PRIVACY POLICY

This Privacy Policy explains how DutyWire (“DutyWire,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile applications, websites, and related services (the “Services”). If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Services. You can view this Privacy Policy at any time from within the app (e.g., Settings/Legal) and on our website (via the “Privacy” link on dutywire.com).

1. Scope and Who We Are
This Privacy Policy applies to:

  • The DutyWire mobile application;

  • Our websites and any web pages that link to this Policy;

  • Our communications with you related to the Services.
    DutyWire is the controller of your personal information where applicable law uses that concept.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide to Us

  • Account and profile: Name, email address, password, and profile details you add.

  • Profile photos: Stored locally on your device in the current version; not uploaded to our servers.

  • Schedules and events: Personal calendar entries, reminders, related info.

  • Notes, records, folders: Titles, content, folder organization, attachments (photos, PDFs, docs).

  • Wellness information: Wellness entries/check-ins you choose to sync via the cloud. Custom workout routines/days currently local-only (see 2.2).

  • Certifications, goals, career info: Training records, certifications, goals, related entries.

  • Feedback/support: Messages you send (including to support@dutywire.com) and the info you include.

2.2 Local-Only Data (Not Sent to DutyWire Servers)

  • Money & Budget entries

  • Custom workout routines/days (local planner)

  • Profile photos (current version)
    DutyWire does not receive, store, or access this on our servers. Your device/backup (e.g., iCloud) may store it per your settings. To remove, delete entries or the app/data on your device. If we change which features are local-only vs cloud-backed, we’ll update this Policy and notify in-app where appropriate.

2.3 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device/log: Device type, OS, app version, language, approximate region, IP address, timestamps, technical logs.

  • Usage: Screens viewed, features used, taps/interactions, session frequency/duration (may use tools like AWS Pinpoint).

  • Diagnostics/crash: Crash logs, performance metrics, error reports.
    Collected via SDKs/infrastructure from providers like AWS and Apple.

2.4 Information from Third Parties

  • Sign-in providers: If you sign in with Apple/Google, we receive info per their terms and your settings (e.g., name, email/relay email, unique identifier).

  • App stores/payment: For subscriptions, Apple/other providers may share transaction IDs, product, renewal status to manage access.

2.5 Purchases and Subscriptions

  • Billing: Handled by Apple/app store; we do not receive/store full card details.

  • Info we receive: Product/subscription ID, receipt/transaction IDs, status (active/expired/canceled, start/end dates, trial status).

  • Receipt validation: Device/backend may send receipt data/IDs to our servers and/or Apple to confirm entitlements/prevent fraud.

  • Use of purchase info: Manage access to paid features, restore purchases, support, legal/accounting/tax compliance.

  • Restoring purchases: “Restore Purchases” uses App Store mechanisms; we may receive updated info to re-enable entitlements.

  • Refunds: Handled by the app store; we may receive limited refund status to adjust access.

3. How We Use Information

  • Provide/maintain the Services: account, display/sync cloud-backed items (notes/records/attachments), schedules, wellness entries, certifications.

  • Local-only features: Money & Budget, custom workout routines/days, profile photos stay on your device; we do not see/process them.

  • Personalize/improve: Understand usage, improve features, reliability.

  • Communicate: Account notices, confirmations, support, service/policy changes.

  • Push notifications (opt-in): Reminders, service/account updates, Information HQ highlights, tips. Manage in device and in-app settings (where available).

  • Security/fraud/legal: Protect the Services/users, detect/prevent abuse, enforce terms, comply with law.

Legal bases (EEA/UK, etc.): contract (provide Services), legitimate interests (secure/improve), consent (e.g., push where required), legal obligations.

4. App Store Privacy Details

4.1 Data Linked to You

  • Contact info: Name, email.

  • Identifiers: DutyWire user ID, device IDs (where used) for account/security/analytics.

  • User content: Schedules/events; notes/journal entries/folders; attachments you upload; cloud-synced wellness entries; certifications/goals; feedback/support.

  • Usage data: App interactions/session info for analytics/service improvement.

  • Diagnostics: Crash/performance data for stability.

  • Purchases/subscription status: Product ID, transaction/receipt IDs, status for app functionality, support, compliance.
    We do not use your info to track you across other companies’ apps/sites for targeted ads, and we do not include third-party ad SDKs that track for ads.

4.2 Data Not Linked to You
Aggregated/de-identified usage/diagnostic data (where configured) used for analytics/service improvement.

4.3 Not Collected (Local-Only)
Money & Budget entries; custom workout routines/days; profile photos (current version) — not collected by DutyWire. Device/cloud backups are governed by your device/account settings.

5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share only:

  • Service providers: Process data on our behalf under contract (e.g., AWS Amplify/Cognito/AppSync/S3/Pinpoint; email/comm providers like Resend/Google Workspace; app stores/payment).

  • Legal/safety: To comply with law/requests; protect rights/property/safety; enforce terms.

  • Business transfers: In merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale with confidentiality protections.

  • With your consent/direction: When you ask us to or consent.

6. Data Retention

  • Cloud-backed personal info: Kept while account is active and as needed to provide the Services.

  • After account deletion: Cloud-backed personal info deleted or anonymized from active systems within ~30 days, unless kept longer for legal/security/operational reasons. Backups/logs may persist for a limited period per our retention practices.

  • Local-only data: On your device, not on our servers; remove via app deletion/data removal on your device.

7. Your Choices and Rights

  • In-app: View/add/edit/delete content; manage notifications/preferences.

  • Emails: Unsubscribe from non-essential emails; we may still send service/security emails.

  • Push: Manage in device settings and (where available) in-app settings.

  • Rights (where applicable: EEA/UK/CA/CA/other): access, correction, deletion (subject to exceptions), objection/restriction, portability (some cases), complaint to authority. We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

8. Account Deletion
Request deletion in-app (when available) or email support@dutywire.com. We delete/anonymize cloud-backed personal info from active systems within ~30 days (subject to legal/security/operational needs). Some data may remain in backups/logs for a limited time. Local-only data stays on your device until you remove it or delete the app.

9. Data Security
We use technical/organizational measures (encryption in transit and, where appropriate, at rest; access controls; monitoring). No system is 100% secure. You are responsible for safeguarding credentials and your device.

10. International Data Transfers
Data may be processed/stored in the U.S. and other countries where providers operate. Protections are applied per this Policy and applicable law.

11. Children’s Privacy
Not intended for children under 13 (or higher age per local law). We do not knowingly collect data from children under that age. Contact support@dutywire.com if you believe a child has provided data.

12. Third-Party Links and Content
We are not responsible for third-party privacy practices. Review their policies when you visit/use them.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy; we’ll update the “Last updated” date and may provide additional notice for material changes. Continued use after changes means acceptance.
